Introduction

1.Self Introduction

My name is Merumo.

I am a Japanese women and 20 years old.

I am from Gunma, Japan and I live in Gunma now.

I am sophomore in Gunma University.

My major is education of Japanese and my dream is to become a teacher.

So I study about education, Japanese and what are children.

I like reading books in my free time.
My favorite author is Tsujimura mizuki because I think that her stories are very realistic and so beautiful.

My special skill is dressing a girl in kimono.
I have been learning how to put on kimono by my grandmother since I was small.

I had studied English for 9 years since 5th grade.

 

2. Explain of My Theme

The theme of this book I wrote is English learning experience.

I felt a lot of emotions by learning English.

I made 10 poems from 10 different situations.

10 situations  gave me some experiences and made me to feel emotions that differ from each other.

For example, tension and fear of the English class, joy of learning English and so on.

The aime of 10 poems in this book is to express my various emotion and experience through learning English.

These are my memories but I want you to read them remembering your own memories.

 

3. Background Information of 10 Poems

  1. The lessons in elementary school

    This poem describes a moment when I attended the English classes in elementary school. I think it was 5th grade or 6th grade. I was sitting at the center in the class room and most of my classmates were always excited to classes. I was very shy and timid girl When I was a child. So I had fear of speaking loudly and speaking in front of the audience. I did not hate to study English however I became to want English classes not to start. Because my teacher always ask me to say “Good morning!”or “Nice to meet you!” loudly.

  2. the moment when I talked with my ALT

    This poem describes a moment when I took an English examination. I was a third student in junior high school. And this was the first time that I talk to my ALT. I and my ALT were standing at out of class room and nobody was there without us. The purpose of it were to remove our fear to talk to native speaker and to get confidence. Before the exam start, I was afraid not to tell what I want to say to my ALT. And I was confused. However she understood what I say smiling. That made me very happy.

    3. the moment when I watch an English movie
    This poem describes the time when I watched an English movie first. I was a student in junior high school.  One day I and my classmates were gathered in irregular class room without any description in the time of English class. The room was dark and classmates was noisy. Them our English teacher start an English movie immediately. It was “E.T.” It was my first time to watch English movie in English. I could not listen to English perfectly. However I was grade to understand the story of it. After this event I became to watch English movie in original language.
    4. the moment when I sing  English songs in junior high school

    This poem describes a moment when I sang an English song first. I was a first student in junior high school. I was sitting near the windows and the class room was bright. My English teacher  liked English culture. She told us some English songs. I remember the name of songs even now. For example, “Thousand miles”, “Bad day”, “Stand by me”, “All I want for Christmas is you”. Until she told me these songs, my knowledge of songs not Japanese mostly did not exist. So these songs broadened my world.

    5. the first moment when I met ALT in high school

    This poem describes the time when I met my ALT in high school. I was a first student in high school. I was sitting in the class room. One day, about 5 minutes after the English lesson begun my ALT came to our class room. Her name was Amy. She greeted us and told us her name, birthplace, school, favorite place and so on. She was so friendly and humorous. Her classes were full of smile and joy. She was always laughing. I and my classmates liked her very much from her first class.

    6. the moment when I learn the alphabets

    This poem describes the time when I learned how to write and read the alphabets. I was a first student in junior high school. I was sitting in the first seat from the front.  My teacher  taught me about the alphabets. She wrote them on the black board after that students wrote them on their note books. I was one of the students. I think that was  simple task. However I made mistakes several times. For example, I wrote “b” when I should write “d” or I wrote “p” when I should “q” and so on.

    This poem describes the time when I attended the classes in the university. I took a class, “Freshman English” when I was a first student in the university. The teacher of the class was native speaker and he had blue eyes and drown hair. The class was all English. So I could not understand what he said very much. I confused and had fear of being spoken to by him. However I became to understand  and to enjoy classes gradually by cooperating with my classmates.

    8. I read an English cartoon in junior high school

    This poem describes the time when I read an English cartoon first. I was a first student in junior high school.   I was in the class room. My teacher  told me about an English cartoon. The name of it was “PEANUTS,” the story of snoopy ,his owner and friends. It was English class. However we read a cartoon. We were excited to read a cartoon in the time of English class. I felt that English was fun and familiar so I became to read English sentence around me after this lesson.

    9. the lesson by using Ami Voice

    This poem describes the time when I attend the English classes in the University. I was a first student in the University. I was sitting in the class room with a lot of personal computers. I attached a headphone and spoke to a computer in English. Then computer gave me some advisees about my pronunciation of English. The name of the system was Ami Voice. Before I used, it I didn’t pay attention to my English pronunciation so much. However Ami Voice’s check made me to think about it.

    10. the time I study for examination

    This poem describes the time when I studied for the entrance examination. I was a third student in high school. I studied English hard for the entrance examinations of Universities. I took trial examinations many times. Everyday, everytime I thought about it and I read or wrote a lot of English sentences. However usually my score of trials were not good. I felt difficulties of English each time.

Only one timid girl came to dislike these words.

I couldn’t see teacher’s face.

 

But I heard  “I see.”

Immediately I look at her face.

She was smiling and understood what I say.

 

I couldn’t remember what I said.

I remember that my face was hot and full of joy.

When I was third grade student in junior high school.

One day,

students gathered in black room.

Everyone were noisy.

 

Next moment,

a colourful movie started.

It was not Japanese.

We did not understand all of it.

 

But everyone became silent.

I was one of them.

 

4. when I sing a English song in junior high school

One day,
teacher told us an English song.
“Stand by me”
This is the name.
I remember songs she told me even now.
I felt my eyes opend.
Everything is not always Japanese.
English broaden my world.

5. My memory about an ALT I met in high school

Laugh, laugh and laugh
That is all of my memory about her.
She was our ALT and she always spoke English.
But we liked her bottom of hart.
Her smile made us…

But sometimes my b was d.

I don’t understand me at the time.

Everything we heard was English.

We were confused.

I felt the class room was black box.

 

However it became brighter.

We understood step by step.

Something we tried to do was English.

My eyes were shining.

The next next day, I study English…

Everyday, I study English.

Everyday, I was thinking about English.

But usually I don’t get good score.

English is mean.

It is written in English
And I am excited for it.

Computer say my “h” is “f”
Computer say my pronunciation is “two star”
Why?
What is wrong?
I’m not convinced.
However sometime computer give “five star”

(3). the moment when I watch an English movie
This poem describes the time when I watched an English movie first. I was a student in junior high school.  One day I and my classmates were gathered in irregular class room without any description in the time of English class. The room was dark and classmates was noisy. Them our English teacher start an English movie immediately. It was “E.T.” It was my first time to watch English movie in English. I could not listen to English perfectly. However I was grade to understand the story of it. After this event I became to watch English movie in original language.
